Mode choice
Before committing to a world, compare the co-op session rules, dedicated-server setup and world settings.
Choose solo when learning the early route or testing a build. Choose co-op when the group can agree on a host and resource rules. Before entering a dungeon or repeat activity, confirm the entry condition, recovery route and what persists after leaving. Completion is a mode that can be entered, played and resumed under the expected save rules—not a label inferred from marketing copy.
Confirm world mode before investing in a session
A world supports up to four players and can be solo, friends-only or public, with Standard, Creative and Custom modes. Choose the mode before building a long-term base or inviting players because mode and access settings determine who can join and how progression works.
For a solo run, keep a private recovery route and storage plan. For a group run, agree on the host, access setting, region objective and ownership of rare materials before entering a dungeon or boss area. If a session does not behave as expected, check the world settings and join path before treating the problem as a combat or save failure.
Select mode and access before the dungeon route
Standard, Creative and Custom worlds are not interchangeable. Decide whether you want ordinary progression, building experimentation or a modified ruleset, then choose the difficulty and access setting. Solo, friends-only and public options support up to four players and affect who can recover the session if the host disconnects.
Before entering a dungeon, agree on the host, return point, shared-storage rules and ownership of rare drops. Solo players should leave a spare recovery kit and a safe route to the entrance. Groups should confirm that every member can join the same world and sees the same objective before starting. If an encounter behaves differently in a Custom world, recheck it in Standard before applying the same strategy there.
World modes and difficulty differences
A world supports up to four players with solo, friends-only and community or public access. Standard is the default and its basic difficulty cannot be adjusted after creation. Creative gives invincibility and unlimited resources; Custom exposes configurable rules. PvP and friendly fire can also be enabled or disabled.
Normal and Hard change recovery and survival rules. Normal hydration, sustenance and rest do not reduce health below 1%, retains skill XP on death and allows multiple gravestones. Hard meters can reach 0, XP beyond the current level is lost, only one gravestone remains active, enemy attacks deal 15% more damage and weakness/resistance modifiers are 10% higher. Choose Normal to learn the route, Hard when the group accepts recovery and XP loss, and Creative for construction testing rather than progression.
Choose the mode before you invest the session
Choose solo, friends-only or public access and Standard, Creative or Custom rules according to your goal and recovery plan. Confirm group access, host ownership and mode differences before spending rare materials or starting long-term construction.
