How Do You Make Leather, Cloth, and Adhesive?
Tannery station
The Tannery is the visible checkpoint for the hide-to-leather chain; confirm the output before processing the whole stack.

🛠️ Production check

Collect inputs with the resource route, place stations with the base-building guide and keep finished outputs sorted with inventory management.

Record the input, station, fuel or secondary material, and expected output from the current recipe view. Process a test batch, move the result to the storage area for the next station, and reopen the journal to confirm the new item is recognised. If the recipe is missing, check progression and station unlocks rather than inventing a material ratio.

Recipes that answer the common “what do I put in?” question

Use these starter recipes: Adhesive = 1 Swamp Tar in a Kiln; Clean Water = 2 Dirty Water at a Campfire; Bronze Bar = 1 Copper Ore + 1 Tin Ore in a Furnace; Iron Bar = 3 Iron Ore in a Furnace; Leather from Hide = 1 Animal Hide in a Tannery; Leather from Scraps = 3 Animal Hide Scraps in a Tannery; Coarse Thread from Flax = 1 Flax in a Loom; and Coarse Thread from Coarse Animal Fur = 3 Coarse Animal Fur in a Loom. Check the live recipe panel before spending a large stack because ratios can change.

Hard Leather uses 2 Leather and 1 Adhesive in a Tannery. If your journal shows a different tier, follow the live panel rather than combining old and new ratios.

Station-specific facts that change the route

The Tannery processes hides slowly and currently costs 12 Ash Logs, 4 Animal Bones and 2 Coarse Thread to build. An Animal Bone unlocks it, while a Tanner’s Kit enables two-material products such as Hard Leather. The Loom follows Bronze Bar progression and must be under a roof to operate.

Use those facts as checks, not as a reason to farm blindly: confirm the Tannery icon Tannery is unlocked, place it where the required roof or nearby storage makes sense, run one batch, and verify the output before queuing rare inputs. If hard leather or a textile output is missing, distinguish a locked upgrade from a missing raw material before returning to the field.

Schedule slow stations around another task

Because the base Tannery processes hides slowly, use it as a background queue: load one batch, leave for mining or quest progress, and collect the output later. Keep the Loom icon Loom under a roof. Place both stations near their input and output storage so you can check them without a long detour.

When an adhesive, hard leather or cloth recipe is missing, classify the block before farming. It may be a station unlock, an upgrade kit, a roof, a skill level, a quest step or a secondary material. Record the exact input and output names from the current panel. Do not substitute a similarly named tier or consume rare material to “see what happens.” One successful test batch is the proof that justifies a larger production queue.

Set up the stations in a safe order

The base Tannery costs 12 Ash Logs, 4 Animal Bones and 2 Coarse Thread, and obtaining an Animal Bone unlocks it. A Tanner’s Kit enables two-material products such as Hard Leather. The Loom must be under a roof and uses a Loom Harness for its upgrade path. Check the current journal for the exact input quantity before processing rare materials.

For a reliable leather or cloth run, build or upgrade the named station, confirm its operating condition, place one test batch, and move the verified output to the next station before farming more inputs. If the expected item is absent, check station tier, roof/operating condition, skill, quest unlock and secondary material in that order. This tells the player whether the problem is “wrong recipe” or “not enough resources.”

Confirm the recipe before scaling production

Before processing a full batch, confirm the station input, operating condition, expected output and the next craft that consumes it. If a batch fails, check the station, unlock, material tier and inputs before farming more resources.
