🏠 Construction run
Choose the next structure with the base-building guide, gather metal tools from the ore guide and keep inputs organised with inventory storage.
Two concrete gates change the early route: level 20 unlocks Chop Thorny Vines, and thorny vines are a quest material rather than ordinary firewood. Keep the axe route separate from stone gathering so a missing Woodcutting level is not misdiagnosed as a missing node. For a shelter or station, confirm the build preview first, then collect the exact remaining wood and stone.
Write down the structure, its material list and the station that may be required. Gather a test quantity, return to the base, and confirm the build preview accepts it. Mark a nearby resource loop on the map so future repairs or expansion do not require a new search.
Convert gathering into a construction loop
Construction covers shelters, crafting stations and other structures, and both building and repairing grant experience. Wood and stone therefore matter first for a basic survival base and later for stations, expansion and repairs.
Before a gathering trip, select the next structure and count its recipe inputs. Leave space for both the target material and the fuel or intermediate that the station may require. Return when the recipe is satisfied, build the smallest useful structure, and verify the station works before farming a larger reserve. If a structure cannot be placed, check terrain, support and the Build Menu before assuming the resource is wrong.
Decide between a temporary and permanent base
Use a temporary structure when the immediate goal is shelter, a bed, a campfire or a processing station; use a permanent site only after water, storage, return routes and terrain have been tested. Construction experience comes from building and repairing, so a small functional base is also a progression step. It does not need to be decorated before it proves that the stations can be used and protected.
For each resource run, write the next build recipe and the number of inputs still missing. Gather a little extra for repair, but stop before encumbrance disables running and jumping. If a structure refuses to place, test the foundation, support, roof and terrain separately. When the station works, move the recipe and its output into a labelled storage group. That makes stone and wood serve a specific loop instead of becoming an untraceable stockpile.
Fast lookup for the first building materials
| Material | Source | Region | Immediate use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stone | Stone Boulder | Anywhere | Foundations, stations and Ground Stone |
| Oak Log | Oak Tree | Anywhere | Oak Plank, charcoal and building |
| Ash Log | Ash Sapling or Ash Tree | Anywhere | Ash Plank, charcoal and building |
| Granite | Granite Deposit | Stormtouched Highlands | Higher-tier construction and processing |
| Sandstone | Sandstone Deposit | Fractured Plains | Wardstones and construction |
| Thorny Vines | Thorny Vine | Early regions after Woodcutting 20 | Quest and building requirements |
Use the source, region and immediate-use columns as the local lookup before a long trip. Bring the matching tool and stop gathering when the next build recipe is complete.
For a construction run, read the next build requirement first, gather only that tier plus a small reserve, return to the nearest storage, and place the structure before starting another resource loop. The completion signal is the building appearing and the requirement leaving the build panel, not merely having the items in storage.
Start the building trip when
Decide whether you are gathering for temporary shelter, a permanent base or a specific repair before leaving. If placement fails, check terrain, structural support, roof coverage and the Build Menu before collecting more stone or wood.
